Ashlyn is 5 years old and lives in Salisbury Center. She has Neiman-Pick Disease, Type C. This fatal disease only affects 500 people worldwide and took the life of her younger brother. We brought her a Special Tomato soft touch sitter with a mobile base to be used in the home. This seating system fit Ashlyn perfectly and gives her a safe alternative to her wheelchair. When sitting in this chair, she is also given an opportunity to practice her skills and build core strength. She seemed very comfortable and happy with her new chair! Last year we also provided Ashlyn with an iPad. She uses the iPad both at school and at home with her therapists. The hope is that this will help her communicate her needs to those around her.
