BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 🌟 Jeff Ames

Jeff is a longtime member of the board, and a longtime friend of the Straughters. He is one of the board members who knew Jake which always holds a special place for Heather & Brian. In fact, he often brings conversations at the board meeting back to the over-arching questions “Would Jake need this?” or “Would this help Jake?”

Jeff and his wife Heath are also big supporters of JHFH. Each year they give 50% of all sales to JHFH on a Wednesday in December in honor of Jake and the work we do in his memory. This year the event is 12/11/24 - hope to see you there! @jeff_ames

Giving Tuesday & Our Final Board Meeting of 2024 ❤️

We are honored to once again be the recipient of Saratoga Casino’s generosity. The Make a Difference Luncheon, held on Giving Tuesday, is one of the highlights of the holiday season. We are grateful to share this with so many other incredible organizations.

Donations and support like this allow us to continue to do all we can to create opportunities for those with disabilities and medical challenges to thrive. Our last Board of Directors meeting of 2024 is being held tonight and we are looking forward to helping to do our part to make a difference!!

We can’t wait to see you NEXT WEDNESDAY 12.11 ❤️ Our annual Jake’s Day at @cantinasaratoga is right around the corner — 50% of ALL sales (lunch, dinner, takeout, bar) are donated to JHFH!

This tradition is made even more special because we get to share it with all of you and we love hosting with our friends @heathames + @jeff_ames 🌮🫶

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Jami Hawthorne on our board. Having a pediatrician to help us understand some of the rare diseases that we encounter has been priceless. Her perspective and dedication is an integral part of our success!

We love when items come to us to be delivered. While we can’t do all the deliveries like we used to and some have to be direct shipment to families, it is still the best part of the job! ❤️

We are so lucky to have Mandy on our Board of Directors! Not only is she a speech and language pathologist working for North Colonie schools but she takes her role as a board member very seriously.

She is not afraid to share her opinion and advocate wholeheartedly for those without a voice. Her perspective is often leaned upon during meetings as she offers a viewpoint that not many of us experience.

Before becoming an official board member, Beth Alexander was among our top volunteers and supporters! She was always available to come along on a delivery, prepare and work at our fundraisers, and even donated food from Hattie’s for our cocktail parties. When she joined the board in 2022, it was the natural next step for someone who has been such a pillar for Jake’s Help from Heaven! Thank you @bethalexanderr 🫶

Julie is an OG board member and always up for a delivery. She never says no to the opportunity to join Heather on a delivery, regardless of how far we may need to travel or what she may have on her calendar.

She is walking on her own thanks to the providers at Florida’s Paley Institute, that was made possible with out-of-area travel support from JHFH! 🫶🫶

Before joining the board, Mike was an active supporter and volunteer for Jake’s help from Heaven. He participated in our Finest Filies & Colts fundraiser as well as always attending Family Fun Day! After joining the board, he has made a major impact by leading our governance committee and offering legal counsel. We are so lucky to have him on our board! Thank you @mbillok 🫶

Alyx is the only paid employee that Jake’s Help from Heaven has. We are beyond lucky to have her as she keeps us organized and moving forward!!

She handles our equipment exchange program , gets all board materials ready and distributed to board members ahead of the meetings, handles all of the phone calls and emails from clients and case managers, and whatever other random things Heather asks her to do. She does it all with a smile and we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without her! Thank you, Alyx 🫶

We have been working with Miles since he was a baby and he is now 10 years old! It was so great seeing his smile 😊

Last week @heathersstraughter and @juliemj910 went to Queensbury to deliver this @amtryke to Rostyslav. 🚲

Rostyslav has spina bifida and paraparesis of the lower limbs so struggles with biking. This recumbent foot tryke is safer for him and he can’t wait to get out on the road! 🤩
